Medium Coupe No. 27

Low and wide, this coupe holds its shape the way earth holds water after rain. The form is organic, the rim uneven in the way that only hands can make it — no two points quite the same height, no edge quite straight. The clay is warm terracotta, unglazed, with the pale mineral finish that Sejnane is known for.

It works on a dining table, a counter, a shelf. It can hold fruit, keys, nothing at all. Objects like this don't need a purpose assigned to them. They find their own. The fine cracking you see across the surface is inherent to the Sejnane process, a natural result of the clay drying and firing without industrial control. It is not a flaw. It is the record of how the piece was made.
