Tall Vase No. 3

Three lines near the neck. That is all the decoration this piece needs. Hand-painted in black pigment by the maker, the stripes are not quite parallel, not quite the same width — the kind of mark that a machine could never replicate and a hand could never repeat exactly.

The body is warm terracotta, cylindrical and tall, rising to a rounded stopper-like top. Unglazed clay with the fine surface cracking inherent to the Sejnane process. Not a flaw, but a record of how the piece was made.
